January Networking Call:

Building a strong, vibrant green network is one of the most important steps you can take to find your green career. Knowing a diverse group of people who are well connected, share your values, and are willing to help you is invaluable.

As you build your network they will be the best, most up-to-date source of information about your target industry, help you find resources quickly and efficiently, introduce you to other important contacts, and last, but not least….

Drum roll please….tell you about the job opening that will ultimately become your green job!

If you think this is all a bit daunting, you are not alone! Are you wondering:

•    Who to target?
•    How to meet people?
•    What to say?
•    What to ask?

Are you also:

•    Holding back on your own networking efforts because you don’t want to do something wrong?
•    Stuck at not knowing where to start?
•    Wondering if your networking efforts could be more effective?

Each month we will hold a networking event to give you the skills, experience, and confidence to build your network. These events will take place by phone so you can participate no matter where you live.

During this networking event you will:

• Learn a valuable networking strategy you can use in your own networking.
  
  Carol will spend the first 10-15 minutes sharing the strategy and working with a few people so you can see the strategy in action.
  
  
• Practice the strategy on the call with others who are learning it.
  
  We’ll break up into dyads or small groups to create an opportunity for you to try out and experiment with your new knowledge. By trying it out in a safe, supportive environment, you’ll find it easier to use the strategy in real life situations in the future.
  

• Meet other people who share your values…perhaps you’ll meet just the person who has the information or a connection you need right now.
  
  We will have a system in place so that if meet someone or hear about someone on the call that you want to talk to again, you’ll have a way to do that.
  
  
• Gain confidence about your ability to network.
  
  The hardest part of networking is getting started. Once you have the pattern down it becomes a lot easier…not necessarily comfortable…but easier. As you successes on the call, you’ll feel much better about your own networking efforts.
